I am buying a new system from Dell.

    There is a great price difference between Core 2 Duo E 6600 2.4 GHz with 4 MB L 2 compared to Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz 2 MB L 2

How much difference will it make if everything else remains same. Is it worth paying almost twice for E 600 compared to E 6400 ?

    Thanks

I highly doubt you will notice a large difference. The biggest thing that differs between the two, is the L2 cache. I'm assuming you aren't going to be doing crazy that stuff that will utilize all of it on the E6600. I personally got a E6400 for that exact reason.

ohhh yes u will! I have an e6400 and i can barely play single thread games like bf2,bf2142,fear,doom3...what i had to do in order to play the game was to overlock atleast to 2.4ghz. cuz current gen games dont use 2 cpus only 1. I noticed i could never play on bf2 on stock speeds so i had to overclock in the 2.4 range to play it.

Ohh another thing my pc doesnt suck if anyone is thinking that

    2x 8800 xxx xfx
    1000 tb harddrive
    680i asus striker
e6400 overclocked to 3.4 ghz with zalman 9700 led w/ artic silver paste
    cool master full tower case
    1000 watt psu by Enermax
    22 inch sceptre w/ hdmi,dvi monitor

but for the new games like crysis, alan wake ull barely noticed cuz how fast these chips are. They say u need quad for the new games which make me cry LOL. it seems when the newer technology comes out ppl always say its the best. yes, its the best but its so much overkill you dont even need it. Games still only use 1 cpu, the only game right now that is using dual core is supreme commander man. I say if u building a new pc wait till next moth for the e6750 which is 2.66 ghz for 180 dude.
