Wow you should buy some property in the US. Seriously it would be a good investment because the property will eventually go up and the exchange rate is heavily in your favor! 1. you could have just gone on yahoo and gotten a current exchange rate.
2. the euro has BEEN killing the dollar for quite a few years now, it's just hittin some pretty record highs in the past year or 2.
3. despite this conversion rate the actual economies of britain AND europe in general isn't better than the u.s. so it still doesn't matter!! lol....
