how much would you charge to have someone clen up your computer?

just curious.....How much would one of you guys/gals charge to go to someones house and clean up someone computer. Say it a bunch of pop ups and maybe a few viruses. Update the OS and install some virus protection along with some spyware software???

 

basically clean up, increase performance and answer any other questions they might have. the average joe would have no dea how to do some of the stuff that is posted on this website.

Jus kind of curious what one would charge fora service like this.

 

For friends-- free, the first time. Otherwise, it's $50 for the first hour, or portion thereof; $25 per hour for each subsequent hour, or portion thereof-- and that's pretty damn cheap.

 

Damn, then I could have made a hell of a lot of money. I usually:

-Clean spyware
-Run a Virus Check
-Install essentials like ad-aware, spybot, and avast for an av if they dont have one already
-Make sure they have all the updates to all their programs
-And then do little things to increase speed, such as defragmenting and other things

and I only charge like $25 for the whole thing.

 

It all depends on the service you need, what area you live in and how skilled/professional the tech is, but I believe for general computing a standard hourly fee in CA is like $30-$40 and for networking issues it's like $50 & up. Of course for home users the price could be less and for certain types of businesses it could be up. Sometimes it is not per hour but per job/task kinda pricing makes more sense....

jms493, for what you want, you should be ok with a knowledgeable friend/neighbor's help, make sure they are experienced though. In most cases people pay and not even get a good service. You wuldn't want to pay and end up with more problems than you started with!

 

I charge $37.50 per hour with a two hour minimum. My clients don't complain. Hell the shops here charge $75 per hour.

 

I charge $50.00 /hr for pc service , min one hour. You get what you pay for.
