How not to log on

    I'm the only one using my computer,how do I do way on the welcome screen from clicking on the user name?? I'm running WindowsXP Pro,

    Go to Start/Control Pane/User accounts/Change the way users log on and off/untick the box that says "Use Welcome Screen". That ought to do it, although I can't try it out myself, since there are two of us using my computer. It says you can create a password, but hopefully you can skip this step and make it all quicker and easier. Hope this helps.

    I'm thinking he wants to automatically log on.

    The welcome screen must be enabled for that. Make sure you have no password, a single user account, and have ALL windows updates not including drivers.

    follow this post, there will only be 3 usernames listed if you haven't installed the .NET framework.

    No need, if you get all of the Windows updates. It has been fixed.

    The user did not ask and may not want to update windows, so there may well be a need to follow the instructions in the faq.
