I have come accross an old HP pavillion a1210n with an Amberline M-GL6E motherboard. How do I determine the speed and version of the PCI express slot? The online documentation does not say.

    Thanks

Thanks, I think you are likely correct about the version.

However, that wiki site you linked does show the 16x slot looking like the slot I have and all the other slower slots looking very different in length (as opposed to the agp slots I am used to which all look very similar despite different speeds.) Maybe I am wrong about this, I know little about pci-e.

After searching forums on other sites I found that HP used that same mobo in numerous computers and on the spec listings for those computers the pci-e slot is listed as 16x:

The link that showed the GL6E mobo graphic for the a1210n showing "x1" I suspect was just poorly labled, like the rest of hp's documentation.

One nice discussion on the amberlineM GL6E (aka the A8AE-LE) is at

    should anyone need the info.

    Thanks for the help
