    Hello,
I'm applying for a gig as a freelance script writer/researcher in the defense journalism sector, but I'm a noob and have discovered I have gaps in my knowledge. I need to access websites like the People's Liberation Army and the Russian Government to view videos and images but when I search for the sites, Firefox, Bitdefender, Windows Antivirus and anything else all flips a fit! I am strongly advised not to proceed. So, I presume I can't rely on these programs to fully protect me while browsing those websites?

Bitdefender has a browser called Safepay. Is this good enough?

I've also been looking into Windows Sandbox. However, neither of my machines is Windows Pro (one is 10, one 11, both Home).

Would Windows Sandbox be sufficient protection? And would I be able to copy and paste the URL of an image or video that I found on one of these sites while working within the sandbox? (I need to include them in the scripts for the video editor to access.)

    Thanks in advance.

The defense journalism sector, whatever that is, has script writers? Now that might explain a few things!

Now, what makes you think that the PRC and Russia would allow you to access their sites, and especially military ones? 'Taint your browser or security programs that are preventing access! Bitdefender's Safepay will not help. No sandbox will help. There is no program of which I am aware - and legally available to a private citizen - that would get you past the security of two of the most Western-phobic nations currently in existence. I doubt that they have much of anything available for general consumption, anyway.

You could try asking the folks over at Caught In the Act, but I'd do so before they're completely dismantled by DOGE.

What on Earth are you talking about? Are you feeling well? How could you get it so wrong?

You've heard of DVIDS, right? The Defense Videos archive for US military branches. Or the Ministry of Defence in the UK? They have an archive. Or the one's in France, Japan, any country you can name usually has license free, royalty free video archives for media use and public general interest. You did not know this?

None-Western countries including China actually do have extensive archives of freely available content, shock horror!

The problem here is that the Russian and Chinese archives appear to be crawling with malware and I don't want to get infected.

That's it. That's all I was asking. I think this was pretty obvious from my first post... unless you've been drinking breakfast... you seem like the type.

I believe there is a misunderstanding here. DangitallRedux was thinking you was trying to access a forbidden site within these countries. But then you came back with your own half-witted misunderstanding. I would like to help, but I am afraid of what misunderstanding would happen. Good luck.

Now, that's quite the assumption from someone who came here looking for help. After re-reading your original post, I believe my response was well within the bounds of reason. Perhaps someone else here might be willing to assist you, but it won't be me.

I apologise for my intolerant, hasty and ill-considered response, and for lowering the tone of conversation. I seem to lack an option to delete my account. Nevertheless, I will not post here, again.
