I'm trying to figure out how to stop Cookies from getting my Real Name. (Windows XP and IE 6.0) I guess that when I initially Set Up XP I stupidly entered my Real Name and I don't know how to Undo that. I changed the Registry Settings - found the Registered User and then changed that from my real name to my initials only. I even did a search of the Registry and found a couple of other places that had my real name and changed those also. But Still... every new cookie still has my Real Name attached to it. Where in the heck are they getting that from?? ANYONE??

    Done all this:
Editing the Windows Registry to reflect a new owner/user name

    1.
    Click Start, and then Run.
    The Run window will open.
    2.
In the Open box, type: regedit and then click OK.
    3.
In the Regedit window, click Edit, and then Find Next.
    4.
In the Find what box, type: RegisteredOrganization (case sensitive), and then click Find Next.
NOTE: "RegisteredOrganization" is case sensitive and should be typed as one word.

    5.
In the right pane, double-click the highlighted file.
Figure 3: Double-clicking the highlighted file in the right pane
    6.
Under Value data, delete the existing name.
Figure 4: Deleting the existing name in the Value data field
    7.
Under Value data type in the desired new name (or leave blank), and then OK.
    8.
Click Exit on the File menu to quit Registry Editor
NOTE: The path for RegisteredOrganization is the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Thank You, Tim, for the response, I appreciate it. I already changed the registry - Registered User and Organization - that's why I'm stumped. Upon further research, I think that it's my Account Name (Actual) that I need to change. C:\Documents and Settings\MY REAL NAME
When I type Run, cmd, set - I see USERNAME = MY REAL NAME

In that case ...control panel / user accounts and click on your name to change it.:)

Thanks, but unless I'm really missing something (and that's quite possible..) changing your User Name in doesn't change your Actual Account Name in Documents and Settings.. I changed my User Name in User Accounts (From my Real Name to My Initials)and I changed my Registered Organization and User Name in the Registry also. When I right click on My Computer it shows Registered To: "my initials" and My New Organization - perfectly fine. But when I Right Click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced, User Profiles - it still shows only one Profile - with My Real Name. So apparently... I need to change my Profile somehow. Also - the Real Root of the Problem - COOKIES - are still coming in with my Real Name Attached. That's what I would really like to stop. Any other ideas? Or am I missing something?

This is what I have come down to... "Registered owner, user account, and Full name (that appears in Welcome screen) are different.
You can change registered owner or full name but you cannot change user account. (Created When you first Set Up Computer)
If you want to change the profile name (user account) under Documents and Settings, create a user account you want and COPY EVERYTHING under current profile to the new one. You then delete the account you do not want. "
