How to Clean Install to Windows XP

Hello

I have Win 98 on my desktop pc but have bought Windows XP Home to install on my pc, I would like to do a clean install after I have made sure to back everything up. Please can you tell me how to do a clean install as I thought all I had to do was put in the Windows XP CD to install it. I want to basically get rid of Win 98 and put XP on my pc

Boot with the Xp CD. Go into your Bios to change the boot order. It will ask you if you want to boot from the cd drive click enter. Then go through setup it will show you the partitions. That is where you format the C drive and you can install XP. While it is installing it will reboot your computer just leave it alone, don't hit enter again if it asks. This will start the whole thing over again.

One thing I would do first is run the XP CD in your 98 system and let it check for compatibility, then use the Files and Setting Transfer Wizard to retain your setting etc.
