This is a continuation of this thread.

Imeant to post last week, but I was very sick and time got away from me.

I have successfully burned a DVD using an .iso file I successfully made a Linux Live Thumb Drive, but it didn't boot, I am using my Laptop to burn the DVD. I am attaching a screen shot of its directory. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm using my Dell Lappie and home brew desk top (both Win7) to test the burn. As I said, no luck as of yet.

I am now armed with a 25 pack of blank DVDs, so I can throw rejects away. I really don't need a collection of flippies (remember AOL?).

Have you inserted the dvd, then started the Laptop, and changed boot to boot from dvd ?
That is how it should work for testing......Also if you wanted to install it.

I'm going to download a clean copy of the .iso file first, then check my BIOS again to see if it is configured the way I think it is. Slow and methodical, is how I'm going to approach this. Now to search MG download for that clean copy, I'm always open to suggestions.

From what your saying, I think the problem then is within the bios and adjusting the boot order?

How did you confirm you successfully made a bootable thumb?

Here are the directions to boot a Latitude D620 from a USB stick.
It was answered in 2012 on the Dell forum.

And I burned a DVD using Win 7 built in .iso to DVD Burner, no joy, looks like I am going to have to use a 3rd party program to make a bootable DVD, any suggestions? I adjusted Biios to give priority yo the DVD drive, eliminating useless choices 3.5" like floppies, both the DVD and USB have priority over the HD, I have successfully used the USB boot for both Linux and reinstalling windows, So it is something about the image isn't right on the DVD.

Did you verify the burn? If not, do it now.

A friend on my home forum (All About Circuits) pointed this package out, whatever Win7 doesn't do for an .iso burn this program does.

Welp, it is done. Linux Mint V19.2 (Code name Cinnamon) 32 byte version successfully installed. Turns out while this laptop is in excellent condition, it is a relic, XP is the last M$ OS that can run on it.

Well done- That cdburner xp has been around a long time, and I used to use it in XP days, myself.
Nice to see it soved your problem. Sometimes it is just the dvd's that do not burn properly.
