How To Create Secure Wireless Connection?

I'm living in an area where i can pick up a couple of the local companies wireless network but they require passwords or keys of some type. When my wireless connection from my wireless router shows up it is labled unsecure. How do i assign a password or key so only my computers can surf from my wireless router? Thanks.

 

This depends on what make/model router you have. However, you should typically be able to access the router's setup page by opening up a web browser and typing in either "192.168.1.1" or "192.168.0.1". Are you familiar with how to access the setup page? How familiar are you with network technology (terminology etc.)? After knowing the manufacturer and model of the router, I can give you more information.

Alright, I looked it up on D-Link's website, and here's the page for your router. It contains the product manual, firmware, installation guide, and many other resources. If you are familiar with your product and how to read the documentation, then you might be able to continue on your own with upgrading the firmware, and configuring the network to be more secure using brownizs' link to ezlan.net.
