Can someone tell me how to do thumbnails?

What is an easy software program to use? Can you tell me briefly how I go about using it?

    Thanks.

i really like Easy Thumbnails (fookes link that bigtrucks posted). it's all i've ever used; completely clean freeware.

if you choose Easy Thumbnails, here are a couple tips:
open Easy Thumbnails first, browse to the pic you want, set the size options, then create the thumbnail. you can let it use the default name or rename it to what you want. if you right click your pic (there will be an Easy Thumbnails "open with" in the context menu) you'll get a thumbnail the size of whatever your last settings were. do it that way if you just want all your thumbnails to be the same size.

if your original pic isn't square, you can crop it in MS Paint or whatever other graphics program you have. be sure to save your cropped pic with a different name so you don't lose the original. that way, if you don't quite like your crop, you can do it again until it's how you like it. you don't have to crop it if you don't care whether your thumbnail is completely square or not.

Easy Thumbnails (aka EZThumbs) is super easy to use and there are 2 screenshots at the fookes website that should give you most of the info you need. just click on the help button in the program for more info.

btw, it's exactly what i used to create my "cake" forum avatar from a 1024x768 wallpaper jpg that i use for my desktop. i didn't bother "squaring" it up, but i could have. took me about 3 seconds.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Since this is an opinion-type question, I'll throw mine into the ring:

IrfanView...been using it for years - IMO, the best freeware graphics program out there...

And, yes: it does thumbnails, very well...

Thank you all for the great suggestions!

I think I'll try EZ Thumbnails first and then give Irfanview a try.
