you cant just put random numbers into tcp/ip settings and expect it to work. if its set to auto obtain now and its working, just keep those settings.

its not your isp, your isp hands out ip's via a process called dhcp or you likely pay extra for a static ip, read more about those two processes to understand whats happening.

yeah you dont want to delete your tcp/ip connection stuff. your isp told you to delete it??

the most common cause of ip conflicts that i have seen is if you have a static ip set on one of your computers and you use dhcp. when you use dhcp, which home routers have turned on by default and you want to use a static ip for whatever reason, you need to reserve that ip in the dhcp scope to prevent dhcp from handing out that ip address to another computer which will cause the conflict youre seeing.

Uh no, deleting the tcp/ip stack is a common fix with a windows 98 machine. Not that it matters, as what you need to do, is set any machine on your network to auto obtain dhcp. This will resolve any ip conflicts. Now if you have a specific reason for a machine with a static ip, then we can work through that, tho the simple solution is listed above.
