How To Disable Windows Update Automatic Driver Downloads, Win10

Hello:

On Windows 10 Home, I want to prevent Windows Update from automatically downloading and installing driver updates.

This page explains how, via Group Policy Editor or via editing Registry:

and this page has download of a Registry file to do that:

But, this newer page uses Win10's own Device Installation Settings to stop automatic downloads/updates:

If both methods do the same thing, would it be better to use the official Windows interface Device Installation Settings rather than to edit the Registry?
Does that newer method replace the earlier method?

From the wording, seems clear to me that the 3rd link is superior to the first two?

 

I would agree, though the article that recommends editing the Registry (first link) is more recent than the one using Windows' own function (third link). If Windows' own function achieves the goal, why tell people to edit the Registry?

 

Different options... with pros and cons. My take, anyway.
