How to disable Yahoo Search Assist?

How do I disable Yahoo Search Assist for good?

On Firefox, click the arrow by search bar > manage and remove it.

 

OK, got it. Still having problems with IE10.

 

On IE10 - Tools>Manage add-ons.
Same procedure.

 

Not finding it in the manage add-ons.

 

I do not find it.

 

If you click Tools, the drop down menu will show manage add-ons.
Search providers is there.

Here's another way to get to tools -

 

On IE 10, You have to press Control + E to change address bar to search.rolleyes

That is just one of the reasons I hate IE 10, and never use it.

 

Bing is there, but no way to remove it. It is disabled.

 

I don't know why you can't remove it - you right click and there is the option.

As long as your preferred search engine is marked 'default", that's all you will see in the search bar anyway.

 

I went to Yahoo UK, clicked on Options next to the search area, clicked on Preferences, found the Search Direct, clicked Off and now all is good! The USA Yahoo doesn't have the Search Direct option. WTF.

You can remove the Bing bar by going to Add/Remove.
When you do Updates, pay attention to the Bing Update and click "hide."

Glad all is working now.
