Hi all, I am having some serious trouble. I am come into contact with some serious nasties and they have hijacked my computer completely. I have tried to go through the steps to getting rid of malware. The main problem I am having is I can not get on the internet and when i try to load the exe files of the programs needed to clean my computer off a thumb drive only 1 of the programs will actually load and install. and that is SuperAnti. Malware Bytes doesn't work and I can't get Hijack This so I have no logs.

At this point I am ready to do a full restore of my computer but I am not sure how to go about it on Windows XP. I tried to go back to previous restore points that have been saved and none of them work. So I just need to know how to get my computer back to square one or if somehow I can get through the removal process.

    Thanks in Advance

Please return to your malware thread and tell us the problems you are having. You should not have a problem transferring MGTools.exe to the desktop and running it. There are specific instructions for doing so on a Vista machine in the Read and Run First instructions. :)

do you have an xp disk? do you have a recovery disk from your comp manufacturer (if it was prebuilt - ie - dell, gateway)? or is there a restoration partition? have you backed up your data (ie - pics, music, bookmarks, etc, etc), that you want? do you have access to another comp, in case you can't access the internet on this comp (to either do updates, or to d/l drivers)? will post more in a bit, if others don't chime in. - sos

I don't need the restore any more or at least I don't thinks so since i couldn't get any of the other programs to work I went directly to the ComboFix step and it seemed to clean up my computer nicely I am still going to run MGtool and post up my logs but I am now able to get on the internet from said computer and I have also been able to instal Hijack This and Malware bytes.

You're in this forum and clearly clicking on "Post Reply" to post here.

Toward the top of the forum page see a button that says "New Thread", click on that, type in a subject matter, and in the lower dialog box type in your issues.

That said, please provide as many details as possible. In your case, the computer manufacture, model, and operating system are very pertinent. But provide as much information and description of your issues as possible.

    And welcome to MG! :wave:wave
