how to do real format

i format and re-install xp 64bit

i was happy as the nagging prob is not there

i was unhappy when i wantes to install my games
and xp prompt the file exists

even when i use wmp 10
when i rip a cd and play a song all my previous songs came but which i like

this when on and when on .....

the question is how to format in a xp 64bit?

 

Hmm somehow its seeing the old files. Try getting the program eraser and useing a nuke boot to erase the hardrive instead of a reformat. That will wipe everything permanently and when windows is ready to install to the computer it will think that the hd is brand new then format and install. Heres a link to eraser:

not sure if it works on 64bit processors but its worth a shot.

 

maybe you just did a quick format (only few minutes) insteads off the long one (around 30 minutes it depends the size off the HD).

 

will my cd rom work after that

Do you mean after eraser boot and nuke? Sure it will. Just stick the cd in and windows will think the drive is brand new, format, restart, then go back and install with the same format that you just made.

The boot and nuke will wipe the drive, and then ask you to save a logfile which you can do if you want to then hard restart and format and install windows. Just be patient with boot and nuke it can take a long time depending on the size of the drive you are eraseing.
