Hello, long time since been here! Just got back a loaned out toshiba satellite lappy, win 7. Wifi not working, doesn't show in available connections. F8 wifi key not doing anything.
Can I enable in command prompt? (Been googling this, no joy). Or, what device driver exactly could I try uninstalling, then reboot? What else to try? Please help? My new win10 lappy was stolen when away on vacation and this one used to work great!
    Thank you.

Is the wireless adapter showing as working normally in Device Manager > Network Adapters, and if so have you tried updating its driver?

In device manager, under network adapters, I have Realtek pci fe family controller and tap windows adapter V9. I have tried disabling/enabling both.
I have elsewhere seen a message "adapter not connected. But no yellow flags in device manager.

Neither of those is the wireless adapter so it looks as though it may have failed. What is the exact model number of this Satellite?

L505. If the wireless adapter failed, wouldn't that show as a flag in the device manager? I just went to Manage wireless networks, and I get messsge that Wireless is not currently enabled.

Can you post a screenshot of your device manager please?

Devices that physically fail do not show in Device Manager at all. Devices that are detected but are not working correctly are shown and flagged. I suggest you get a plug-in wireless adapter. That is the easy way to get going again and they are not expensive.

Just curious, is it possible it's turned off in the BIOS? Some computers have that ability. If it was mentioned already apologies for missing it.

Otherwise, yeah, you might need a wireless USB dongle.

Thank you, I tried resetting the bios to defaults also. No help. Is the internal wifi device difficult to replace, I've had this one open before so I do know my way around the insides a bit.

Yes. It's 'onboard', meaning it's soldered onto the motherboard.

Yours is a Toshiba but, my Dell Latitude E6400 has a switch on the right side near the hinge that I need to turn to the on position for wi-fi to work.
