How To Fix Error On Kb2978002, Win 8.1

    I have been trying to install software update "Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2978002)" and keep getting this error code: 800F0831. It gives a link to get help on fixing the error but nothing works. I am running Win 8.1.

    Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately, I can't even find that update in the catalog.

    I was trying to find out when it was issued and what it was for. I think it was issued in 2014. It is something for a Surface Pro 3. Is your computer a surface Pro 3?

    I see it mentioned on this German site with a date of 2017
