BIOS, and bios updates, are VERY motherboard specific. The proper BIOS file will be found at3 your motherboard maker's site, or the computer manufacturer's site if they support it specifically.

The program to use is whatever they provide. With an Award BIOS, they'll probably use Aflash.exe, which runs from a bootable floppy disk. You copy the Aflash.exe file and the BIOS update file to a bootable floppy, reboot the computer to that floppy, then run the program.

Computer maker/motherboard maker should have complete instructions at the site where you download the files. It's not difficult or complicated, but make sure to do it exactly as the instructions say, and don't quit or reboot in the middle of it, or you could kill your motherboard dead. Print out the instructions to follow before starting.

Grab the files and instructions, and if you have any further questions, post back.

Note the part about why a flash is often not needed. :)

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I believe my BIOS needs a flash

For me to use Photoshop on an ALbatron motherboard...

and for some reason, when i extract the awdflash file to the floppy with the bin file, and use the floppy boot, and I made the floppy the first bootable device, and I even flashed the bios system, with the floppy drive only having command.com,and sys file and ms-dos

this message came up--->CMS checksum error , Defaults loaded

    Any suggestions?

Checksum error could possibly be a corrupted download of the BIOS .bin file. Try downloading a fresh copy and give it another try.

Might also be a damaged sector on the floppy disk, where the BIOS file is getting placed. Try reformatting the floppy, and do a full format, not a quick format, if you haven't done that already. That will test every sector and block out any bad sectors during the format. Floppies are fairly erratic media, compared to most others.

Ok thanks for all the info but where can I find the computer marker and bios marker at. What is that? And when I go to the Award website there are a lot of options on the type of motherboard and I don't know which one my motherboard is. Is there a program that can tell me everything?
