How to FTP

Hey everyone,
I'm new to this community. After reading a few threads i noticed everyone is quite nice and helpful. Recently I had a few viruses in the computer, couldnt get rid off them. Finally decided to format the computer, lost a few important files. Wish I knew about this place before.

Anyways, can someone explain how to set up FTP? Any links regarding the matter will be highly appreciated

You will need to download two pieces of software.

A.) An FTP Server
B.) An FTP Client

you can get these over at http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

since FTP server always needs forwarded/open port to run.
