I have just upgraded an old Toshiba laptop from Vista to Windows 7 using a key I bought from Ebay. It is working okay except for EMail. I can't download Windows Live Essentials as this has been discontinued by Microsoft and the owner does not have Office so can't get Outlook. Windows Mail is only for win 8 or 10. The email address she uses is from the ISP eg someone@bigpond.com. When I go to Default Programs I only get the option to use the current Email Client. Is there a free program I can install which is reliable and simple to use?

Have you tried just typing in hotmail in your browser?
Or, msn.com to get the homepage, and just click on the outlook button- I am sure you do not need office installed to be able to use it s just for mail.
I have changed and upgraded so many times, and never had a prroblem- once you have the mail link- bookmark it.
    Bigpond.com site http://media.telstra.com.au/home.html
You cn just click on mail on there if that is the mail server.
