Does anyone know a way i can get into an OEM bios?
I have been trying for two days to get Ubuntu to run on a virtual machine but i keep getting "virtualization is switched off" now i know this is in the bios but my mobo is an OEM from HP and does not let you in to alter the settings ( i think it's to stop overclocking)
The strange thing is that i have had Windows 7 running on a virtual machine and after playing with it i deleted it but now i can not use virtual.

    My OS is Vista Ultimate
    my CPU is intel Q6600
    Motherboard ID 64-0532-000001-00101111-102308-Bearlake$HPBEN000_BIOS DATE: 10/23/08 21:39:17 VER: 5.32

If it is not possible to get in i will at some time in the future put a new Mobo in but i would like to run Ubuntu Now without having to dual boot, I want Vista and Ubuntu to run at the same time.

I will post all the commands used to get into BIOSes that I currently know. Maybe one of them is the one.
    F1
    F2
    F10
    F11
    F12
    esc
    del
    ctrl+alt+esc
    ctrl+alt+ins
    ctrl+alt+enter
    ctrl+alt+s
    page up
    page down
    esc+F1

    Good luck!

Looks like Plodr will have you busy. I did not know there were that many possibilities. I have had problems in the past with USB keyboards not cooperating. You might try a PS/2 to eliminate one possible problem.

When trouble shooting.... a basic PS2 keyboard & mouse is first!

    How to Access BIOS

Bios may have a fast boot option set & your just missing the window of access, sometimes you can slow things down with "Pause Break key" on your keyboard "Enter" will contine the boot....

If nothing else works, Reset CMOS, unplug HDD then the proper key will allow access to your BIOS, most of your OEM MOBO's BIOS options will be locked:major

Try CTRL + F1 once you are in the BIOS. Sometimes they hide the really good BIOS setting. I have had one or two mobos that you had to hit additional keys to access the rest of the BIOS.
