how to get the sound off a AVI or other vid?

Does any one know what program to use to get the sound off an avi (or mpg).

I am trying to convert a avi to an svcd on a dvdr using easy cd creator 6 (i also have Nero six UE if anyone thinks itll be easier). I am able to make beautiful copys but with no sound. I was told to use sound forge to stripp off the sound the put it on the disk in .wav format, but i have been messing with it for a few months now and i cant seem to make it work.(my eval copy is almost up) SO i came to good ol MajorGeeks for the answer to my prayers but I see no programs like what im looking to do. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

 

personally I would use the extract audio from video function in Cool Edit Pro 2.1, or Adobe Audition 1.0 (same program basically).

 

Try looking at TMPGEnc.
