How to Get to comand prompt when ? 2000 locked

When locked out ..Its windows 2000 nt pro .Password protected ..
Friend gave me this older but nice lap . For got pass
It just will not load windows with out pass ...

Tried to safe mode with comand prompt,,, no go .
I was thinking for a newbe like myself,,, and I have xp .... I could load xp on this older lap. If I can get a prompt !

Can you access bios?
Disable password protection in bios
or Reset cmos.

 

I'm new at some of this ....I'm not sure of all the ways to get to bios ..
Please refresh my memory ,,whats left of it !!! And I'll give it a try

Yes I'm in to the bios ..Its esc. when booting on a toshiba ...
I'm looking for where the pass protection turn off is now ..It looks like it promts for one,to type in , but no option to shut off ;;;maybe leave blank ?

 

Well I got it .I just needed to set boot sequence to cd rom then launch xp to wipe partition and reload with xp ,,

If it's older unit there may bios update avaible.

I picked up an old laptop a couple months ago this Model had 14 versions of Bios and it was running on the third one.
I upgraded to the 14th and final one, it went from two pages of bios stuff to seven and as turn out, the final one is the only one that fully supported XP.
