I am trying to get some old home movies (VHS tapes) onto my computer, so that I can add the video to a power point slide show for my wedding in March. I am assuming that it will have to be in MPEG-2 or DIV-X format.

I was curious if anyone could tell me what Hardware I will need for this task, and what software, if any will be needed.

If there is an online guide that anyone recommends as well, please inform me of its location.

Thanks in advance for any help all.

You'll need a capture card to connect the camera/vcr to the pc and recorder software.. which most editing software (Ulead, Sony Vegas) does capture too...
    a good site is www.videohelp.com.

"Divx" uses a high compression to make smaller AVIs so you can fit more per disk - yet the trade off is quality..
