How do you install a new PCI E video card on a MOBO with integrated Video?

if the MOBO has a pci-e slot just follow these steps.
1.disable integrated video driver, shut down windows.
2.Open your case and ground yourself, unplug PC
3.unscrew the metal plate beind the slot.
4.if it has one insert the hook in it's place first and make sur ethe video card is lined up with the slot
5.gently push on the top of the video card, do not touch the components.
6.make sure it is in place and screw it down
7.hook everything back up and turn it on, be sure to update drivers.

SO just by installing the video Driver would do the trick right? I dont have to move any dip switches to "inactivate" the native card that comes with the MOBO? (is an Intel Video 950)

    Thanks for all your help!

I am actually unsure about disabling your onboard driver, i didn't diasble anything before installing my 6600gt, eh, I gave you teh outline, it isn't too dificult, just follow what teh instructions say that came iwth the video card, are you SURE you have a pci-e slot?what kind of comp is it?and there are no "switches" involved unless you are using an SLI setup.

Thanks for your help. My pc is a Dell Dimension 5150, I did what you mentioned but the computer wont start when the video card is installed. Maybe my card is messed up. Any thoughts?
    Thanks again

does it work after taking it back out? what happens when you try to turn it on? could be that the video card is drawing to much power, I doubt dell puts very good psu's in thier systems, and what card did you get?

Yeah, it works fine when i pull the card out. I thought about the power consumption too, the card is an ATI X600 XT and they only reason i got this card is because on the dell website they have the 5150 with the X600 but I am not sure about the power supply. Do you know a place where i could check about the consumption of the card?
    Thanks a lot!

my power supply is 305 watts, I am not sure how many watts i need for my card , i've seen websites that mention at least 300 watts, others 400 watts... grrrrrr
 I guess I am going to have to get a new power supply but that is probably another can of worms right? what do you think?

that is quite likely, they say you should have 30A on the 12v rail for a pci-e card, if you want a good psu I have heard good things about teh OCZ powerstream 400W or 500W antec and spakle also make quality PSUs.

Would there be any problems with the Motherboard? All these MOBOS are kind of standard in terms of connectors? so I would be able to plug all my stuff (Hard Drive, DVD.. etc...)
Thanks a lot for all the help!!!!

no there wouldnt be any problem... all the connectors should be the same... it may come with some other types of connections also.. such as SATA hds and stuff like that but yes it will work with your motherboard
