How to learn what is on my hard drive

I am running windows XP home edition.
My hard drive is only 38 gig but in a year it has filled up to where I now have only 4.3 Gig free!

When I open the properties window of the drive, and as you know, I can only see a pie diagram that shows me two colors representing free space and used space.
What I would like to learn from Major Geeks, is can I learn what is filling up that "used space".
I don't have all that many programs!
Plus, I have cleaned the drive with CCleaner, and run Malaware which found no issues. and I ran Spybot. Spy bot found nothing wrong.

Maybe by me actually looking at all that is on the drive I could determine what I could delete?

    I anxiously await your replies!

Try using the "Disk Cleanup" button next to that diagram.
Probably won't help much, but that's something.

Make sure your Recycle Bin has been emptied.

    Adjust System Restore Disk Usage

By default, System Restore is given 12% of your hard disk space when you install Windows XP.
    To change amount:
Right click my computer icon, properties. System Restore Tab, Settings.

Check "Add or Remove Programs" in Control Panel and see if there are any programs installed that you don't want or need any more.
You can also use that to Add / Remove Windows Components that you do not
    need or use.

I'm sure you'll get other suggestions.

    My 'EDIT" time expired.
Just wanted to add, Do Not disable System Restore to save space.
Just allow sufficient space. 1GB should be enough.

You might also like to check out what is listed in Event Viewer.

    Start---> Run

Type in eventvwr and press OK.

I've included an attachment of my laptop Event Viewer file and I clean it out when I remember.:-D

Not a lot of space used, but every little bit helps if you have a smaller capacity hard drive. Besides the info there may help you see some regular entries/errors that may need investigating.
