    Hi!

I am looking to connect a VDF modem and hard drive from my old desktop unit with my laptop. In effect I want the tower hardware to act as external components to the laptop.

    Here are my specs:

Laptop - Dell, Latitude, Intel Pent III. Has 3Com 56K v90 DF modem that I need to bypass.

Desktop - Old Gateway, 233Mhz processor. Has 6G hard-drive and Telepath VDF modem with X2.

    Can this be done?

 What do I need to do to link these items together?

MMhhm, networking would be the logical way to achieve this. For network connection (modem) and for the HDD, that can be done pretty easy. I think you can share USB devices over the network, too, but I think that depends on the devices.
