How to make MP3 files from HD?

    I have a program that allows me to copy songs from my record albums or cassette tapes onto my hard drive. It's called RIP vinyl. Are there free or low-cost programs for turning those songs on the HD into MP3 files and burning them onto a CD?

    What format are the files in when you rip them from the cassette tape or record? Depending on what format they're in from that point, all you would need is the right type of file converter to convert them from .??? to .mp3.

    That's right, the files are wav. Thanks for the replies. I'll try the suggestions. It's my hope to convert the wavs to mp3, then burn them onto a cd with my ECDC basic 5.3.5 software.
