Hi i have a webpage address that i am currently using to store information that is being uploaded automatically on a regular basis. I want to find an easier way to access the information. currently i am logging into my address via ftp and looking at the info but this takes time. i have come accross sites that have their folders and files in the format as the screenshot below shows. How do i show my files like that? If you can suggest an even better way to view info please tell me. thanks.

That page comes up when there is no real page to display. This is usually when someone surfs to one of your folders. So, if they typed in "www.domain.com/images" they'd be brought to that page where the files are stored. If you want your page like that, you should place a link to one of your folders on your page.

if you want a PAGE to look like that though without setting file browsing on, then you need a script that will read the files in the folder and dispaly them accordingly. The script it easy to make or find.

I think that the free hosts don't let you view the files in the browser. I tried this with AngelFire and it did not work.

If you don't have access to change webserver settings, you can't do this. If you are running a Web Server yourself, in IIS (and in Apache) you can set "directory browsing" to be allowed, which lets you do this.

If you have a Server side scripting supporting web account (they can be free), then you simply get a script to go through the directory and print out all of the files and their URL's. Its really quite simple in ASP or PHP, only a few lines of code :)

Greetings a simple way of doing this is a FREE geocities account,,or a entry level page they offer for 4.95 a month,,,you can add a subdirectory to the site ,,even without a domain you can view it,,here is the one I have setup to share files,,,its under a domain name,,but can also be done without !!! Yeah if you really wanted to do something like filesharing like glenn has then why not making an ftp server? You can find some free software on here majorgeeks.com and then set up a server and that way you can keep as much crap on there as you want. and you'll ust tell people the ftp domain when you want them to download things.

@Glenn: Hey glenn notice anything different, like below my name? lol I spent all evening earning those! you need to hop in the arcade and get some yourself. :p
