I have his ip and all that, and i need to be able to map a drive on his server, so i can access it when i need to. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. Ive tried doing it from searching yahoo/google. all i found was stuff for 98 and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mapping drives across the internet ...... ummm ...... yeah, that's not such a good idea. First of all, your friend would have to have his server "wide open" on the www, which is just asking for trouble. To do it, he would have to open up the appropriate ports through his firewall/router (most likely why you can't map now) .......

Your best bet is to create a VPN to his network, then you can map the drive.

An alternative is to use FTP. Have your friend setup an FTP account on his server, that points to the directory you want to access. Anytime you need to access, you can just ftp to it.

I couldn't agree more. Very bad idea. FTP is your best alternative.

Some FTP clients allow you to map an FTP folder on a remote server to a local drive.
