Can anyone tell me how to move all my yahoo mail and my folders to my Gmail?
Before you answer please be aware that since late 2012 Yahoo mail's POP & Forwarding are now $19.99 a year to use /activate. I've tried any and all steps to do this on many websites and it all leads me to:

"Automatic forwarding and POP services require Yahoo! Mail Plus
Get all your emails in one place with POP-out and forwarding in Yahoo! Mail Plus. Upgrade Now! Get a whole year for $19.99—that’s less than $2/month!"

....so please don't send me any links that show "how to switch / move all my Yahoo mail to Gmail" that are from mid 2012 and before then because they no longer work.

Are there any Chrome apps that will do this?
I've searched Chrome apps / extensions and did not find any...but I could have not worded my search correctly?

    I'm on a PC.

    Thanks.

Nope. This no longer works. I've Re-Set my language, site, and time zone to 3 different countries (cannot do this in Chrome only IE and Firefox)) and still does not work. As I've already stated "since late 2012 Yahoo mail's POP & Forwarding are now $19.99 a year to use /activate" so sending me info from 2011 will obviously not work...but thanks anyway.

Looks to me that Yahoo have got this well sewn up. I have an unprotected (i.e. free) Yahoo email account that I never use so I put a couple of messages in it and added the account to my gmail account. Gmail assures me it has fetched two emails and is continuing to check for new messages every 2-3 minutes. Nothing has appeared in my Inbox though.

EDIT - seems I didn't give it long enough as both messages have just appeared in gmail, so that's your answer :wave

    Is that necessary?
But I also want to know if a software like this exists.

Earthling, can you elaborate? How did you "add" your Yahoo Mail account to gmail?

Hi usaf, it's Settings > Accounts > Check email from other accounts. I'm now using it to collect messages from several other accounts, including outlook.com. And as I use gmail in IMAP mode everything is now available in Thunderbird too.

I just tried that and it did not work. The message displayed was: POP access is limited to Yahoo! Mail Plus subscribers. Please contact Yahoo! Mail's support team for more information.

This is exactly what I expected since the free Yahoo email account is not a POP-capable email account. Perhaps this depends the country you're located in.

That's disappointing. You must be right about the country thing - my yahoo address is @yahoo.co.uk. I didn't expect it to work either and was astonished when it did but it's still working 24 hrs after I set it up. Only thing I didn't mention was that when setting it up I first added it to Send Mail As, and after POP3 started working I deleted that as I would never want to send from that address. Can't see how that should make any difference but for the little time it takes I would try it.

m1c2, if I wanted this badly enough, I'd spend a one-time $19.99 for POP for one year and transfer everything to gmail. You'd have a year to change all the places that use your yahoo mail addy to the gmail one. Then when you are satisfied that you have all your emails and no one is using your yahoo address any more, drop yahoo email.

Once again.....If you DO NOT live in the USA you can set up Yahoo mail POP/IMAP with NO problems. In the USA you have to pay $19.99 per year to set up Yahoo mail POP/IMAP.
The best advice I've gotten here is to pay the $19.99....which I was clearly trying to avoid.

Yep. And, I think plodr's suggestion is a very good one.

Yesterday 12/31: "This no longer works. I've Re-Set my language, site, and time zone to 3 different countries (cannot do this in Chrome only IE and Firefox) and still does not work. ".

Over the years Majorgeeks forums has come through for me in more ways than I can count.....but I don't think there's a way to solve this Yahoo mail problem. Especially since Yahoo mail has now become even worse than AOL (at least here in US).
What's worse is that there are people blogging, responding about having paid Yahoo's $19.99 fee to do this and they're still having problems getting all their yahoo mail, their folders, consistent forwarding of their newer mail, etc. over to their new (non-yahoo) email address.

I have read that there's a way to do move ALL your Yahoo mail, folders, sent mail, by using Outlook and/or Facebook to do this. Does anyone know how to do this?

Post the links so those of us in the US can read how to do this.

Yes, if anyone can send links on how to move ALL of your yahoo email (including folders) by setting up and using Outlook, Thunderbird, Facebook, etc to do this, please post them!
    Thx

Uh, why are you asking us to do this? You said,
so, where did you read that? plodr asked you to post the links to your sources of info on that. You're the person who should be posting links to sources. You said you read about it. Where did you read it?

What??? You're withholding this information for ransom? rolleyes

Any way, in a section titled:
Trick: Move emails from Yahoo Mail to Gmail or Outlook without POP
    from:
How to Move Mails from one Email Account to another - Migration Guide(May of 2011, which you've probably already seen)
was the only thing I come across that looked like it might work, using TrueSwitch. But TrueSwitch says it is shutting down the site as of May 2013(although it appears to still be operational).

If you decide to try that method, you might look at the old thread TrueSwitch Spyware or not? - MajorGeeks Support Forums first.

There is also: TrueSwitch Alternatives - AlternativeTo.net. Can't say anything about any of these as I've never tried them or, TrueSwitch for that matter.

If there was a good application to do the job, it would most likely be listed on MajorGeeks.com.

    Update:
I've pretty much successfully and for free(!!) changed and moved my email account and folders from the lame, cluttered, now-worse-than-AOL yahoo email to Gmail.
Out of desperation I discovered that I can move ALL of the contents in my yahoo mail folders by doing this on my iPhone!! And it's only the 3G iPhone...I have and hate at&t so I will not get newer iPhone until my at&t contract ends -next month YAY!! At&t is hands down the worst mobile phone co ever!! -and Ive been w/all of them...but I digress.

Anyway, here's how I did this.

    1) First I went into my new gmail and created all my exact same-named folders that are in my yahoo email account. Then on my iPhone I went in to each yahoo folder on my iphone + Edit + click on each item in that opened yahoo folder + Move + Accounts + click on my new gmail account + choose my new folder in my gmail (w/same name as the yahoo folder), then click on it and it will drop all the items you've chosen into your new gmail folder. Done!
Please note: I have lots of of stuff to move and was sort of scared to do this so I tried it first by moving only a few less important items in a yahoo folder to that new (same named) gmail folder. After it worked so well I've now moved 100's of items from my yahoo folders in to my new gmail folders.
I also did not touch my iPhone right after moving a bunch of stuff from yahoo to gmail. I let the wheel thing keep spinning until it stopped. When you move stuff out of your yahoo folder it's NO LONGER THERE/Deleted....so let it your iPhone (any smartphone?) do it's thing.

    2) When in to "Vacation Response" in my yahoo email Options and let everyone one who emails me to automatically receive an email from me to now use my new gmail address.

    3) Bcc'd a gmail to all my contacts with my new gmail address.

I tried all the yahoo help steps and gmail help steps to forward and change email but none of it worked.
I even got notices of confirmation from yahoo regarding this but still no difference.

I tried that popular suggestion to change my location from US to Asia as a way to enable free IMAP and POP in yahoo but no change/didn't work.

It does seem that using Outlook as a popular (and free) way to do the switch of email addresses but I couldn't figure it out.

Yahoo help site is useless unless paying for Yahoo Plus.

I read lots about different email Migration Tool services and ShuttleCloud sounds like it might be the best but I have NOT tried it for myself. Trueswitch shut down on May 15, 2013.
    ShuttleCloud info:
    http://www.google.com/enterprise/ma...&category=&query=+Email+Migration#reviews-top

    Hope this helps someone.

And yes I'm sure there are MANY other ways to do this that some of you will immediately (w/bated nerd-twit breath ) let me know. Can't wait!
