How to only allow certain sites in IE?

How can I go about setting up IE so that only one specific website can be visited? This is Win XP Pro, SP1, with IE6 with an administrator account.

I seem to recall there was a way to do this using Privacy or Content tab under Internet Options, but can't find anything.

Your looking for the "Content Advisor" Click Start / settings / control panel / network and internet connections / internet options. This will allow you to change the settings of ie but it cannot be used to change settings of other web browers. Also see the help support on your computer and search ie for more information related to privacy, security, and access allowing and blocking.

 

You could also try configuring a host file this would affect all browsers installed globally and would work across all platforms.

 

How do I do that?

Navigate to the folder C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/ETC (assuming your operating system is on the C drive). In that folder is a file named hosts (with no extension). You can open it with Notepad or Wordpad. It is a sample file that includes instructions on how to use it.
