How To Overclock An I7 860 Wihout Bios.

I'm trying to help a friend of mine with getting more out of his i7 860 cpu, but it's seated on a Dell mb, which doesn't seem to allow overclocking the cpu.
I've read the i7 860 is a beast of a cpu and can be overclocked up to 4 ghz. Is there away to overclock it using software?

You'll note that Windows 10 is NOT supported on that model.

Perhaps the laptop would work better with Windows 7.

 

That system's specs do support Windows 10 actually, and in any case it is irrelevant to overclocking the CPU. It will work just fine on Win10 with or without overclocking it. If I was the OP I would have posted on a specialist Overclocking forum.

 

His DELL STUDIO-XPS-8000 has been working fine with Windows 10 for a year now. Some of my friends (including the one with the Dell Studiio XPS-8000 using the i7 860 cpu) have been playing games like: Killing Floor, Left 4 Dead 2, and Dying Light and his i7 860 runs them all great. I forgot to mention that his video card is the GTX 950 w/2gb.
There's a game that we both want to play in the future that I'm not sure his i7 860 will run very well at 2.8 GHz., so I'm hoping to help him out with a little over clocking. Unfortunately his motherboard doesn't offer away to overclock in bios.

At the moment I'm looking at the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility, but I don't know that much about it. I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

 

I have the same pc XD. Your CPU is not available anymore and is unsupported by the intel extreme utility
by the way switch to a ssd that hdd is terrible
