How to prevent flash advertisements?

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question, so forgive me if it isn't.

I am getting increasingly annoyed at the flash ads that appear on websites. They slow everything down terribly. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions for disabling flash. I don't want to remove it . . . just disable it until needed. I have found freeware on the internet that is called "no! flash". It is supposed to allow you to enable/disable flash. Have any of you had any experience with this program, or any others that might accomplish what I am after. With all the mal-ware out there, I am a little leery of downloading unknown programs .

I just don't have flash installed in Firefox. If I really wanted to see a flash, like homestarrunner.com, I'll just load it in MSIE.
