   Will be purchsing new Windows 10 laptop that does not come with internal DVD drive. So need to purchase external drive. Will use for watching movies, loading software, etc. What attributes should I look for in this drive?

   A Y power connector. a single USB port is a laptop doesn't supply enough power to burn a DVD.
   Also, make sure the laptop has more than 2 USB ports. I attach my LiteOn burner to 3 netbooks and I don't want to have to remove the mouse to use the DVD drive.
   
   I actually rip movies to mp4 files, load on sd cards and watch on netbooks that way. I can carry lots of movies on a little card.
