I thought this would just be a drag/drop application, but its not? why is this so complex? I just want to drag and drop. I dont see the app when I connnect the ipod to the computer, what do i do next?
how do I get songs from my computer to the ipod?

    what have I done wrong?
I really just want to drag my files over the Ipod(like a harddrive) and then select files I want to play(execute) and that's all I want.
I Like the other crap my ipod does, but I really plan to just put it in my car and use my steering wheel buttons to have a MP3 player in my car

If you installed Foobar, put the foodop.dll in the Foobar components folder, it should work. If you are using an itouch or iphone 4 without iTunes this additional information will get you up and running with foobar2000.

I am using a 2nd Gen itouch with iOS 4.2.1. Win7x64. iTunes NOT installed.

    1. Follow all directions in the above tutorial (making sure you download the latest version of foo_dop.dll)
    2. Download itunes (you will not be installing it dont worry)
    3. Download winrar or 7zip
    4. Extract the contents of itunes.exe to any folder on your computer with winrar or 7zip
    5. Browse to the extracted contents of the itunes.exe
    6. Install AppleApplicationSupport.msi and AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (the names of the files may be different depending on your OS, 32vs64bit)
    7. Reboot computer (optional)
    8. Enjoy

You cannot drag and drop on the Ipod Touch as the iPod touch does not work as a removable drive music-wise. Apple does not allow it and they make it difficult if not impossible for any other software to interact with their products.

Here's more current info from Foobar that may help:

If you want anything simpler, you will need to use iTunes as Apple intends. In iTunes, drag the songs you want onto your iPod icon in the sidebar to transfer them. That is as close as Apple will let you to drag and dropping your music.

wow that doesnt make foobar easier than itunes
why dont i just buy a scan disc mp3 player? or isnt there something out

there that is just easy to use and I dont have to read a bunch of stuff to use// most of the trouble is from juts reading that guide. I have to install a bunch of other programs just to use the one program to get the songs on the gizmo... I dont really want to become verse in computer lingo and jargon to just play songs off my mp3 player
how did this POS become such a popular item for people to use when it is just so hard to use....

I too am anti-itunes. I have use a program called "sharepod", been for a long time and it does exactly as i need. It doesn't have all the bloat it's super simple.
