How To Re-check PC for Win10 Compatibility

    Hi,

I have Win7 Home SP1, and decided to give the free Win10 upgrade a go. The compatibility check returned that I have a video card that is not compatible with Win10. So I:
    1) Changed the video card to one that is Win10 compliant.
    2) Noticed that the Win10 checker still said that the PC is not compatible because of the old video card.
    3) Verified that device manager has the new video card and not the old one.
    4) Removed the Win update for Win10 check.
    5) Allowed Windows to install Win update for Win10 check.

But the checker still says that the system is incompatible because of the old video card. I tried running the check manually from a command prompt, but access was denied. I tried from a administrator command prompt and nothing happened.

Is there a way to re check win10 checker to reserve my copy of win10?

    Thanks

    Thanks for your quick reply.

The processor should be compatible. According to the system compatibility list, my processor checks out.

Just for fun, I downloaded the Win8.1 upgrade assistant, ran it and all the hardware checks fine and is compatible.

I think I need to refresh somehow so that Win10 doesn't realize that it ran before. Maybe something in the registry needs to be reset?

OK, so I read on MS site that the checker runs automatically once a month. So, I changed the system clock a month ahead then ran the checker again hoping that something would change. It still came back with finding the old card. So, I changed the month back to the current month. After a while, to my surprise, the checker ran automatically and said that I was good to go.

I don't know if this is a workaround or if the checker just decided to act right, but the problem is resolved. Win10 is downloading.

    Hope this helps someone somehow.

    Thanks

Thanks for letting us know the issue has been resolved. :major It might be that Windows 10 didn't have the correct drivers for the video card - there has been problems in that regard.

    Maxwell, thanks for your reply.

I did run the checker manually using the step in the first link that you listed. I ran it first and the response was that I was denied access. I then ran it as administrator. I waited for a while and it did nothing. That's when I initiated the first post to this forum.

It is possible, since the link said that it could take a while for it to run, that the checker ran again after a very long delay from this request.

Since I was waiting so long, and nothing seemed to be working, I then tried with the system date. Whether it is the system date, or the manual request finally kicking in, something triggered it.

Thanks again to all for your replies.
