How to recover a windows admin. password?

Hello,
I need to recover my administator password for my personal pc that I forgot without downloading any software if possible.Any suggestions?

I've used NT password editor, it does work, if you do use it, you will need to reinstall some windows updates cause it will remove a few of em, everything else will be left intact.

Does this work on windows xp home edition? I couldn't tell from the info. on the link you gave me.

 

Yes, as long as your using NTFS file system.
There are directions within the link, I suggest you print them.
When using, directions they suggest you just blank the password, then change within windows.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page too, How To Get it, click on Boot disc instructions & image download.

Directions are very comprehensive. It is definatley best to simply set the password to blank than try and set a new one, I've had much more luck like that.

 

I, too. have lost/forgotten my windows admin. password and have windows XP Pro on my pc. I only need the password so that HijackThis will run on my computer before Coolweb (and all the rest) destroy it. Is there anything else I can do? like maybe add another administrator account? This is my first post so if its in the wrong place; I'm sorry.
