How to remotely shutdown computers in a domain

    I have really had a hard time getting this to work.

    We use Group Policy and I created a special policy that created a task to shutdown the computer every Saturday morning at 3am. I checked the computer that I applied the policy to, and it shows up in Task Scheduler, but the computer was still on this morning. Technically it should have shutdown on Saturday.

    What am I missing here?

    I am going to say I have had no luck with task scheduler and shut down as have others. I might consider using a utility to do it for you. Here is an oldie but goodie that should still work if you want to go that route:
