How To Reset Default Services In Win 8.1

I have the problem of a jerky and slow mouse, Win 8.1. I have tried changing the speed which works on the speed only but not the jerkiness. I have now been trying to suspend services to find out which one(s) are affecting the mouse. To no avail. I would now like to reset all the services to the original default settings. Is that possible? I do not know which ones I have disabled or "manualized" so I am looking for a general setting reset. Thank you for any help or suggestions on this. A possible second question is there any good explanation for all the services, what they do, how they work, etc., etc.? Again thank you very much.

BlackViper lists all the default services for Win 8.1 under the three different categories - 8.1 home, 8.1 pro, 8.1 enterprise. Therefore you can reset them to the default for the Edition of 8.1 you have, if you feel it is easier than running a rar file.

I stopped recommending Black Viper after the site became inactive over a year ago. Didn't realise he was back. What do you mean by 'if you feel it is easier than running a rar file'?

 

His services configurations are all accurate whether he is here or not, and his Win 10 configurations were updated March 13, 2017- he is also proposing to update them for the upcoming major update in April 2017 - so I suspect you are badly mistaken.

Can I ask you again about using a rar file in this context?

 

It's never been down when I've visited it - but I'm sorry if there was a time when it wasn't online when I didn't need to consult it! But it was online when I surfed to it for this thread.

Because having two scrolling windows in front of me with ease of change is easier for me. It might be easier for other people or it might not.

 

Yeah, that's more or less how I do it too, not with a rar file but simply by running services.msc
