Not unless you have your "Trash" preferences/options set to not empty Trash until/unless you manually do it (i.e. the way the Recycle Bin is set up). That gives you a little more protection and control over accidentally deleting items you wish you hadn't. . . This won't help you with the email you've already lost, but might help with other emails in the future.

    Hi

Would really depend on what email service and application you are using, for instance is this webmail like Gmail or do you get your emails in an application like Outlook? depends on the application as emails in say Windows Live Mail/Windows Mail are saved as files and "may" be able to be recovered with a recovery app like Recuva, but time is not on your side here and after 90 days+ the likelyhood of recovery is very slim to none.

If Outlook are you on an Exchange server, generally companys use this and not home users?

Email deletions are slightly different to deleting a file in Windows as they dont goto the recycle bin, so if you use webmail and logon online then they are deleted on the server and gone if they are not in the trash folder, if you use an application like Outlook, then check the deleted items folder. But if Compact Mailbox or the items where in deleted/trash folder and that was emptied then sadly they are gone.

If its MS Office Outlook then their is a trick in corrupting the PST file (is an advanced option) then running scanpst.exe to recover the PST and it can rcover the deleted emails, however if compact email has been run then the deleted emails are gone.

Longshot is can you ask the sender to send it again, or just the picture?
