Can I use an IDE drive to backup an SATA drive on a newer machine? Thanks:confused

Yes you will find most if not all mobo that have SATA will still offer IDE (HDD, CD, DVD, etdc). The only difference between the 2 is the method and speed they communicate with the hardware system, the DATA is still exactly the same.

Curious as to why you ask as often SATA HDD are cheaper nowadays and transfer DATA quicker.

The sata drive crashed and I have a few large IDE drives, and no SATA drives laying around.
