how to test pc parts?

i have a HP Pavilion 4535 everything is stock on it i was wondering how can i go about testing the mobo psu and so on? because at this point i can make it do anything no boot no post no nothing

 

ok i have everything out of the case and hooked up i power it up and theres nothing on the screen and the cpu fan that i just bought from radio shack is not turnning but everything thing eles is working what would be worng here?

 

the fans power requirements might be too much for the mobos fan headers ... you might try hooking it up directly to the PSU

 

how would i go about doing that? oh btw that pc small buttom of the drum like its psu is only 100watt

but I'm confused ... I have a dual CPU machine w/ 2xP3 @ 550MHz and they don't have any fans on their their heatsinks ... you have a 400MHz celeron, maybe I'm wrong on this one but are you sure you even need a fan? was there a fan there originally? are you sure the power connector is connected to the right place?

 

yes when i bought it it had a fan and just up and quit on my this past month so i went and bought a new one and yes i am sure its all hooked up right on this one the psu has a conector that connects to the mobo that connects right next to cpu fan connector its also a 3pin and i know what you mean but i think they just put it on there because the case is so small and the psu sits within a inch of the processor
