this is just idle curiosity for me. but i have stumbled around the internet a few times looking for a brain dead easy way to test the salt content of water, and the process seems overly complicated, time consuming, and costly. i either don't know how to search for this, or it is just a complicated process.

again, i'm just curious. the fate of humanity does not lie in the balance.
for many years now, i have bought those fancy salts. one thing to do with them is make a salt brine. people purport 14000 uses for the salt brine, but i mainly use it as a mouth rinse. when you can not get a certain food taste out of your mouth, despite brushing, the salt brine does the trick wonderfully.

anyway, i have always wondered what the salinity of my little jar of salt brine is. naively, i thought there would be some testing paper strips, or some form of meat thermometer that you could just stick in the water, and it would give you a rough estimate [ ballpark sort of figure ] of the salt content. but alas, the internet has failed me. or, maybe, i have failed the internet. who knows. thanks.
