    Hello!

I recently went through the whole system overhaul in the Clean Up and Protect from Malware forum.

But, now my printer and computer won't communicate. Totally frustrating ... and try as I might, I can't figure how how to fix it.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    I loaded:
    > Super AntiSpyware
    > Online Armour
    > Avast
    > MalwareBytes
    > CCleaner
    > Spyware Blaster
    > Smart Defrag

(I also downloaded Firefox ... but haven't "unpacked" it yet ... still debating)

So ... I'm sure it is likely something really obvious to someone more computer literate than I am.

The printer is a crappy old Lexmark X2250.

    Thanks a bunch! Julia:confused

Is the printer attached to the computer or is it on a network (attached to a router)?

If it is networked, open online armour and make sure the addresses of your network are allowed to talk to the computer.
    I have a linksys router so I allowed 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.215

    Hi mom2many,

    You have 2 problems.

    #1. It's a Lexmark
    #2. It's a Lexmark!!

    1. Uninstall the printer software first.
    2. Shut down, turn off computer.
    3. Unplug USB cable from the computer to the printer.
    4. Restart computer.
    5. Install printer software from CD or downloaded software from Lexmark.
    6. Follow directions when the software tells you to plug in the USB cable.

    Hope this work for you.

I have uninstalled the Lexmark drivers ... deleted all the files ... rebooted ... reloaded the correct drivers from the Lexmark website ... unplugged and replugged the cables ... all in varying orders ...
I did the uninstall & reinstall multiple times and followed their troubleshooting for dealing with the language monitor error message (finally got rid of that) ...

But it still won't print! I had no problems at all until I loaded Avast! and Online Armour. But now, even if I disable those two, it still won't print.

I send something to print ... I can see it process the pages ... the document shows up in the print queue (says printing) ... but nothing happens ... and eventually the document disappers from the print queue ... but nothing ever comes out of the printer (and yes, it is on and connected).

Again ... I did not have any of these problems before doing the virus removal and software updates (and the malware forum sent me here).

    Thanks a bunch! Julia

I am still hoping that someone can help me on this ... I can't afford to buy another printer at this point. Lexmark offers no help. It will scan from the desktop and scan & copy from the printer buttons ... but it just won't print documents ...
SO - I know that it is connected properly, that it still actually works ... but it just won't let documents print. It is not on a network.
I have Avast! and Online Armor installed. It won't print now even if I disable those two programs.
The print job shows up in the queue ... and then disappears ... but nothing comes out of the printer ... it is as if the printer can't hear it ...

    Thanks! Julia
