I've had the Geek Squad Online Backup installed on 3 computers for less than 1 month. No one at Best Buy told me before I bought the software and paid them to install it, that I would have so many problems with it. They also didn't tell me that I needed high speed internet to use this software and even though my computer runs pretty fast, it's apparently not fast enough.
I have not been able to back up any files due to the fact that I have a lot of data on my computers and I was informed a few weeks ago, that it might take several days & up a week to back up all the data. So I haven't even tried to do that yet.
THIS IS MY PROBLEM: every time on start up, the Online Backup window appears immediately and says 'please wait while your files are be updated'. Today my XP was locked up for over 5 hours 'updating files'....not backing up...so I called Geek Squad. Two agents were unable to help me stop the 'updating' or to uninstall the software. We even tried doing that in 'safe mode' but we were unsuccessful.
The computer is completely locked up during 'updating' and I cannot access files or email.
They recommended I shut off the computer and take it in to the nearest Best Buy to have them uninstall and reinstall the program again.
I know I can do this myself and I can't drive one hour to a Best Buy.
Can someone tell me how I can either uninstall the Online Backup or turn it off since it will immediately start the 'update' process when I start it up again?
I really want this software off of my computers now...I can find other backup services.
I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

I'd call BestBuy and get the answer since it is their software.
Start in safe mode and see if it runs. I it does, turn it on before you go to bed and let it run. Then in the morning see if you can find the progrm. Does it appear in add/remove programs? If so, remove it.
