If everything works correctly on your computer then ignore the advice of aida32.

If it ain't broke, then don't fix it.

Many others here will tell you the same thing.

Yeah you're right, but isn't there anything different in the updated bios, or is it all the same settings?

Yup, if it ain't broke..., only reason to upgrade is if your issue is specifically addressed in the change log. I have only upgraded once and that was due to going to a dual processor from a single and I have a UPS too. Nope, I don't touch it at all if I don't have to. It's too easy to make your machine behave like an expensive doorstop.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

I agree with the others, but if you ever have to, generically it involves downloading a flash utility from the manufacturer, installing the utility on a floppy disk (or in some cases, a USB drive), booting to the device, and running the utility...

Be advised: it's a dangerous procedure, usually only performed in dire cases...

if your on 64bit id run a mile :-D but 32s a touch easier.you've already found the name of your bios and if it isnt a 64bit motherboard, you should be able to go to the site and sort it from there, and perhaps update? :)

How does the number of bits affect the BIOS?

I'm not sure really all i know is that when a friend got a virus and he was on 64bit motherboard :
involves downloading a flash utility from the manufacturer, installing the utility on a floppy disk (or in some cases, a USB drive), booting to the device, and running the utility...they are always hard to do and a novice like myself can only agree with the engineer who told me so after trying it for myselfrolleyes

That process is exactly the same as for a 32-bit mobo.

Sorry. I can now see that you may be using an update program supplied by the motherboard vendor. :-o

    Sorry for the hijack.

The key words are if necessary. Translation, if you are having a problem, then the first place to look is the text file for the BIOS update that lists what it fixes. If you do not see a fix for your problem in the BIOS list, then don't update because it is not necessary.
