how totrack what and where a program installs to??

I have now purchased the program so this question is purely self indulgence!! (but would still really like to know)

when a trial program is installed it must do a couple or three things to check 30 days have elapsed b4 it `times` out the software 1- check the time/date 2-that the clock/calender is not adjusted 3- this has not been installed/uninstalled/reinstalled after 30 days have elapsed

so my 2 part question is :- where does this info get stored/and can one track a program as it installs to see where it puts info

the program i used `phoned home` to see if the serial was valid and then shut me out so that i could not use it until either purchase or uninstall(but it left info on my puter that got checked on reinstall and it still would not go hence purchase of £70 quid
hope its worth it now??
