hp 2210 prints slooow

I've tried two printers on this computer, both HP's with the same result. HP tech support says the resorces are too low. The computer has a gig of ram and I've turned off everything that is running in the background ecept for Mcafee and Sygate. The printing still takes hours. Any ideas?

 

Have you tried another usb cable, possibly bad?

 

Well no I haven't. It didn't occur to me that the USB cable could be at fault, mostly because the first printer worked fine at one time. But what the hay, I'll try that.
